Bluecoat Chambers is a Grade 1 listed building and holds the distinction of being the oldest surviving building in the vibrant city of Liverpool. It serves as Liverpool's contemporary arts centre, functioning as a dynamic working home for a variety of artists, while also providing a welcoming space to experience art in innovative and exciting new ways. Its rich and dynamic history has cultivated a diverse mix of spaces suitable for both public and private use. Bluecoat features a dynamic programme of exhibitions and events, along with an award-winning initiative designed specifically for families and children. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the bustling café and bistro, take a stroll through the beautiful garden, and browse through the unique offerings at independent retail shops.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the building was unfortunately closed to the public. However, significant efforts were made to enhance the main areas of focus, particularly within the ground floor hub space and the restrooms throughout the building. A new reception area and café were thoughtfully installed and relocated, resulting in a more engaging and comfortable environment where visitors can relax, savor refreshments, and fully enjoy this historic and artistic treasure.
